MA has introduced an Expert Knowledge Series where we will host expert speakers on a variety of lunchtime webinars for our members.

Over the next few months we will be hosting professionals who support the GLAM sector to share knowledge and take questions. Bring your lunch and your curiosity as we dive into inspiring and informative discussions and if you want us to cover a particular topic let us know.

We open our lunchtime Expert Knowledge Series with this webinar covering the importance of identifying, quantifying and managing risk in museums with a particular focus on valuations.

Presented by Ben Ashley, Aon New Zealand’s principal art and collections valuer. Ben is formerly the Director at Ashley & Associates and Rare Books Manager, Valuations Manager and Head of Fine Art at Webb’s Auction House, Auckland.

He has over a decade of local and international appraisal experience and has managed large-scale evaluations for New Zealand’s most significant private collectors, museums, institutions, councils, and corporations, including the Alexander Turnbull Library, Te Papa Tongarewa, Ministry for Culture and Heritage Manatū Taonga, the National Museum of the Royal New Zealand Navy, The New Zealand Parliamentary Service Te Ratonga Whare Pāremata, Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga, Museum of Transport & Technology, Hocken Collections Uare Taoka o Hākena & University of Otago, and the Tauranga Heritage Collection, among others.
