Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū is Ōtautahi Christchurch’s public art gallery in the heart of the city, and home to one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most important public art collections. This is your opportunity to join an experienced, dedicated and hardworking team in the largest art institution in Te Waipounamu.

Reporting directly to the Lead Registrar, the Registrar will help maintain comprehensive documentation and undertake registration processes relating to the Gallery's collection and exhibition-related activities.

You will be involved in the safe movement, packing, maintenance and security of artworks, assist with accessioning and cataloguing, and ensure the Gallery's Vernon database is current and accurate.

The Registrar is expected to help with the administration of incoming loans for exhibitions and outgoing loans of collection works as well as the care and storage of the collection.

Our ideal applicant will have:

  • An appropriate Tertiary qualification at Bachelor level (preferably in Fine Arts, Art History and or Museum Studies);
  • Previous Registration experience and an established track record working within an art gallery or museum environment;
  • Collection management database experience, preferably Vernon; and
  • Excellent communication skills
