Do you have a thirst for knowledge and a passion for passing it on? You could be leading a team of educators who inspire and excite the next generation of artists, scientists and explorers through curriculum-led programmes in the coolest classroom in town.

Te Manawa Museum is the cultural heart of our region, responsible for inspiring exhibitions, innovative learning programmes, and exciting and inclusive events. It is a place that values openness and is led with a spirit of manaakitanga.

You’ll know what makes young minds tick and how to excite them about the world around us. You’ll build and deliver learning programmes aligned to varied exhibitions that incorporate mātauranga Māori and engage students from around our region in a museum and gallery setting.

You’ll be responsible for a team that supports one another to host schools and early-learning centres, deliver holiday programmes and activities, and develop learning resources for the community.

You’ll play a pivotal role in planning, so keen organisational skills, negotiation and collaboration across teams, plus the ability to shape – and work to – budgets is essential. You’ll also know how to have fun along the way. A tertiary qualification and experience in teaching is preferred for this role.

We are passionate and excited about the collections we care for, and the experiences we shape with them. Those experiences touch us emotionally, inspire us creatively and give life and mana to our collective heritage – making our region an exciting place to live, work and play.
